ABTA reveals the best winter vacation destinations

The latest research from ABTA shows that 46% of those surveyed hope to take a winter vacation this year.

Today, the red list drops to just seven destinations, while the FCDO no longer advises against travel to countries not on the red list for reasons of Covid-19. Winter holidays are resuming and bookings are on the rise.

The ABTA has conducted research on the number of people who hope to take a winter vacation this year, and the results show that almost half – 46% – have booked or plan to book a vacation in the coming months.

British winter is the best time of year to visit many overseas destinations, and ABTA has rounded up its top picks for vacationers looking to escape to warmer climates.

The Canary Islands

Just over four hours by plane from the UK, the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro) are a winter vacation staple. Sandy beaches and water parks make it an obvious choice for families, while hikers and climbers can explore Mount Teide in Tenerife.

Turkey

Can I travel to Turkey?

East meets West in Turkey, where the valuable winter sun is accompanied by a healthy portion of culture, ancient history and amazing food. Antalya, on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, enjoys one of the warmest climates, as well as stunning natural scenery and elegant seaside resorts.

Dubai

Dubai

From October, Dubai takes on its full meaning as the UAE cools off from the scorching heat of summer. With average temperatures of 25 ° C, it is an ideal destination for shopping, staying in luxury hotels and enjoying world-class entertainment.

The Caribbean

Jamaica

Jamaica and Barbados are perfect for a winter break thanks to their tropical climate and laid back lifestyle. White sand beaches lined with palm trees, dotted with beach huts serving freshly caught grouper and lobster, set the stage for a proper escape from the British drizzle.

Mauritius and the Maldives

Some winter vacationers have saved up for a blowout. The idyllic islands of the Indian Ocean, Mauritius and the Maldives, are incomparable for a luxury beach holiday amid turquoise lagoons and colorful reefs.

When planning their well-deserved winter vacation, ABTA advises vacationers to seek the expertise of an ABTA member and visit the FCDO Travel Advice Pages for their intended destination to check local rules and entry requirements.

ABTA also has an essential information and advice center, to help vacationers book and travel with confidence this year.
