BC Falls at Virginia Tech in Game 1 of the road trip

Blacksburg, Virginia – Boston College lost to Virginia Tech Friday night 3-0, the Eagles lost by scores of 25-27, 12-25 and 12-25. BC now improves to 13-4 on the season and 1-2 in the ACC while Virginia Tech improves to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the ACC.

In the first set it looked like it really could have gone either way as it was a back and forth until the very end and heck at 24-24 Virginia Tech was able to squeeze in after a run of 3-0 to clinch after BC took a 25-24 lead.

After running away with the second set, the Hokies came out in the third set looking for a sweep, and they would go on to get it after a 7-1 run to win the set. Virginia Tech hit Boston College with an impressive .353 to .085 for the game.

For British Columbia, senior right side hitter Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, Texas) led the way on offense with eight kills. Junior setter Grace Penn delivered a team record 18 assists and a junior libero Anna Murphy counted 13 excavations.

For Virginia Tech, Sydney Petersen finished with 11 kills from 19 attempts and Cara Lewis also added six kills and four blocks.

Boston College will be back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. to cap off its weekend road trip with a game against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.
