Can you travel by train with a simple platform ticket? Railways Answers

News18 has spoken to railway officials to investigate the reports that have gone viral.

The railways have rejected all of these claims and warned passengers against ticketless travel.

Over the past few days, several claims have been made on the internet that you can travel on a train even if you only have a platform ticket. According to one of the claims, you just have to go to the TTE with the platform ticket, it will provide you with the ticket on site. He further claims that if you do not have a ticket to travel, you will not be considered guilty of traveling without a ticket.

However, News18 has spoken to railway officials to investigate the reports that have gone viral. Railway officials have refuted all of these claims and said that you will be considered guilty of traveling without a ticket if you are found on a train without a ticket and will also be penalized.

CPRO, Northern Railway Deepak Kumar denied the news and said: “No such new rule has been introduced by the railways to travel without a ticket, the same rule applies as before the Corona period. “

Railway officials said that previously, if someone did not have a confirmed ticket, that passenger had to contact the warden by taking a platform ticket. The guard sent it to the TTE, who questioned the passenger on the destination and cross-checked if there was a vacant seat on the train. If there was a vacant seat, it was allocated to it. But in the event of unavailability, the passenger was invited to disembark the train at the next station and the same rule still applies.

So, it is advised that before believing any such news, you should look for it. No rule has been set by the railways that you go to TTE with a platform ticket and they will give you a confirmed ticket.
