Cincy QB Desmond Ridder talks big game ahead of Notre Dame trip // UHND.com
Desmond Ridder and # 7 Cincinnati make their first trip to Notre Dame Stadium (Cincinnati made a trip to Notre Dame in 1900 before the existence of Notre Dame Stadium). Bearcat’s quarterback talks about a big game ahead of his maiden trip to the Rockne Built Home. Ridder made a bold prediction when speaking to the media on Tuesday.
Ridder told WLWT TV’s Brandon Saho that after Cincinnati OC Mike Denbrock, a former Notre Dame aide, told him Notre Dame Stadium would be loud on Saturday, he didn’t think it would be loud for long.
Well, categorize that under something that is harmless but will be brought up several times this week and will no doubt be referred to Ridder if Marcus Freeman’s defense does anything close to him which it did to Graham Mertz of the Wisconsin last week. Mertz returned the ball five times, including two pick-6s in the last three minutes of the game.
Cincinnati arrives at Notre Dame this weekend ranking higher than the Irish and slightly favorite. They apparently also arrive with a little confidence. In Ridder’s lone fight against a five-power program this year, Ridder completed 55.6% of his passes for 210 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.
Hoping that the Notre Dame high school that feasted on Mertz last week does the same this weekend with Ridder and sends the home crowd into a frenzy.
