Houston Soccer continues its best start in season history

HOUSTON – Houston Soccer remains undefeated with a win over Louisiana Lafayette on Sunday at the Carl lewis International Complex. The Cougars have now improved their record to 5-0-1 this season.

Goalkeeper Mikaela Gracia won his third straight clean sheet shutting out the Ragin ‘Cajuns (2-4-0) with his impressive performance in the net. This is also his third clean sheet of the season and his second clean sheet this week. In his 90 minutes at the net, Gracia recorded a total of seven saves.

First year Redshirt Nadia Kamassah saw his second start of the week and the season which both resulted in goals. For two consecutive games, Kamassah recorded the winner of the game for the Cougars. She scored against the Ragin ‘Cajuns early in the 34e minute with freshman that of Anna Reysa first assist of the season.

Senior Defender Emma Clarke She also shone in today’s game playing 90 minutes, which earned her another clean sheet this season.

The second goal of the match was scored in the 68e minute per senior Kayla izaguirre with the help of a graduate student Sionah Browne. Izaguirre put the ball in the net for his first goal of the season and posted a record 60 minutes playing time on the pitch. With Izaguirre’s assist, Browne now has six assists this season.

Houston was successful in preventing Louisiana Lafayette from getting a score on the board, which resulted in the shutout 2-0.

Houston will begin its two-game road trip with a cross-town visit to Rice on Thursday at 7 p.m. After Thursday’s game, the Cougars will head to Jackson State with a noon Sunday game.
