Mela to promote Kanjli wetland as tourist destination: The Tribune India

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Anupam Kler said on Monday that the young Baisakhi Mela organized by the Punjab government in the Kanjli wetland on April 23 would help redevelop the wetland as a tourist destination for which adequate arrangements are taken by the district administration. .

The show will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with no admission charge for the general public. During a meeting with the administrative officials of the district administrative complex here today, she said during the ‘Baisakhi Mela’ where the Kanjli would not only be revived as a tourist destination but also attract crowds with the entertainment of the people with performances by renowned artists, costume contests and discount coupon draws. The colorful program will include fancy dress, giddha, bhangra, folk songs and a women’s fashion show for school and middle school students.

Apart from that, magicians will also perform at the mela. Famous singers will entertain the audience during the fair and more than 50 booths will be set up by different departments.

She said the district administration would facilitate people with prizes through a lucky coupon raffle. Apart from this, pressure cookers, mobile phones, placemats will also be given out to the general public by raffle via coupons.

During the meeting, SDM Dr. Jai Inder Singh and senior officials from other departments were present.
