Alex Valle is so grateful to be from Miami that he opened a restaurant and bar with his gratitude in the title.

Valle (a Kendall native, in fact), known for his original Mr. PB&J food truck, opened Thank You Miami Cocina and Beerhouse in Little Havana. There he serves the sandwiches that made him popular at food truck gatherings, chewable monster burgers and over 40 kinds of craft beers.

“I’ve always wanted something very unique right in the middle of town and it was a great place,” said Valle.

Valle and his wife, Johanna Caserta, sold their Mr. PB&J food truck just before the pandemic began, in December 2019, and operated Strange Beast Brewery in Kendall throughout 2020. The couple were looking to open a outlet. similar water. , serving craft beer and bar fare centered on Miami, but closer to the heart of Miami.

They found a location near Marlins Park, in the heart of the original Little Havana, in hopes of bringing post-game fans and locals back to the downtown area. It’s decorated with Miami memorabilia, from the owners’ original Orange Bowl stadium seating to the artwork of Don Shula. Valle is a former Miami tour guide, so it is important for him to preserve Miami’s history.

The menu is a bit of their two origins, including a “pizza empanada” in the style of the native Venezuela of Caserta, a version of a croqueta preparada with peanut butter and guava jelly, and burgers like the Don’t Be Jelly, with bacon and pepper jelly – and yes, peanut butter. Craft beers remain local, ranging from MIA Beer Co to J. Wakefield.

Their restaurant is covered in graffiti by local artists, including Atomik’s big orange and one by Miami artist Rendawriter that features a phrase repeated over and over again: Thank you.
