“I’ve seen a lot of growth,” head coach Tony Trisciani said after the scrum. “Today there were explosive plays on both sides of the ball. It was good to see the offense threatening the defense vertically. Defensively we created turnovers and put pressure on the quarterback.”

Jalen Hampton, a transfer from Virginia Tech, had a big day. He had a rush for 42 yards and a rushing touchdown in the exhibition. He is part of a strong stable of running backs in the program.

“As a transfer, the rest of the running backs have been supporting me from the start,” Hampton said. “I really appreciate them. Sometimes it’s tough as a transfer and as a new guy I really have the utmost respect for them.”

After Saturday’s contest at Vanderbilt, winning 63-10 on Saturday night in Hawaii, Elon will travel to Wofford for a contest at 6:00 p.m. on September 10. The Phoenix will finally play in front of home fans on Saturday, September 17. , hosting Gardner-Webb at 6:00 p.m. inside Rhodes Stadium. The complete program can be consulted by CLICK HERE.

“What we want is earned, not given,” Trisciani said. “We have to earn it every day by training with purpose and being resilient. When everyone in our program wakes up on Sunday morning, there will be a heightened sense of urgency. We’re going to ramp it up.”
