Star Line Ferry offering free trips to Mackinac Island for all healthcare professionals in October

ST. IGNACE, Mich. (WJRT) – The Star Line Mackinac Island ferry to Mackinac Island now offers an unprecedented “thank you” to all frontline healthcare professionals and first responders.

For the month of October, Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry has committed to providing free trips to frontline workers to Mackinac Island.

“We wanted to find a way to thank those who have done so much to help our families and communities during the pandemic,” said Jerry Fetty, CEO of Star Line. “Frontline healthcare professionals and first responders are amazing people who have put themselves at risk to help and protect us all over the past 18 months. We thought it was important to do something to show our appreciation for everything they did.

Star Line has announced specific requirements as to who is eligible for free round-trip tickets. This will include:

  • Doctors, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Practical Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Respiratory Technicians who provided direct care to COVID-19 patients
  • Law enforcement officers, including local and federal police officers, state soldiers, county sheriffs, and correctional officers
  • Firefighters, including career firefighters and volunteer firefighters
  • Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)
  • 911 dispatchers

“October can be one of the most beautiful and relaxing months to visit Mackinac Island, so we sincerely hope that these ‘everyday heroes’ will take this opportunity to visit the island,” he said. said Fetty. “Hope this can help brighten up one of the few days off they have in these difficult times.”

Sources said that in order to claim the free ferry pass, eligible workers must have their employee badge with professional credentials at the Star Line ticket office.

This will be valid at both locations, Mackinaw City or St. Ignace. Mackinaw City from Star Line.
