Fall is slowly heading towards Palm Springs, which means it’s almost time for the annual fall preview of Modernism Week.

The four-day event, which runs October 14-17, will showcase mid-century modern wonders, feature a number of presentations and plenty of shopping opportunities for guests to bring a bit of Palm Springs design into. their house.

The Fall Preview has something for everyone. From classic events like the bus tour to new conferences from renowned architects, you’ll discover hidden gems, travel through time, and find plenty of Instagram-worthy content.

Mid-Century Mixology Cocktail Clinic at Mr. Lyons

If you’re having an upcoming mid-century themed party, you’re going to need a few drinks on the menu. Luckily, the mixologists at Mr. Lyons Steakhouse will make you a cocktail pro with every spin, shake and stir involved in this mixology class. Participants will learn the process of making iconic, high-quality handcrafted cocktails, and then try to prepare them themselves. The two-hour course includes three drinks.

Some of the sights include Frey House II perched on the mountainside, William Krisel’s House of Tomorrow made up of four floating circular pavilions, singer Frank Sinatra’s former Twin Palms estate, and Palm Springs’ ‘holed’ town hall. .

Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale Preview Night

The biggest party of the weekend is the festive opening night and early bird preview reception on October 15 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The event includes a wine reception with hors d’oeuvres and gives collectors the chance to view thousands of designer items before the show opens on Saturday. The exhibition and sale will feature objects, furniture, works of art and textiles from the 20th and 21st centuries from more than 40 leading national and international decoration and art dealers.

Participants also receive free entry to the Palm Springs Art Museum and Center for Architecture and Design with their ticket.

Cody for social millionaire James Logan Abernathy in 1962, and guests will feel like the town’s talking point once inside. Abernathy’s residence is filled with rare mid-century furniture and artwork by international designers, and the building itself has a unique ‘pinwheel’ shaped floor plan. Architectural wonders aren’t the only ones on display at the Fall Preview: Car enthusiasts can admire classic post-war automobiles in Cathedral City. The 12th annual event will feature over 150 foreign and domestic cars, with a focus on luxury cars from the 1950s to 1970s that are rarely seen today. This year’s theme is Motor City Glamor, which rings true to all the shiny, stylish and iconic cars that will be featured.
