Tour operator offers loyalty discount… for competitor trips – Travel Weekly

Specialist adventure tour operator Explore has announced a competing loyalty program offering in a move it says recognizes the diminishing value placed on loyalty by the wider industry.

The company, which revamped and improved its loyalty program in October 2021, hopes to encourage adventure travelers to switch to Explore without losing loyalty benefits held with another travel company.

Explore’s Global Sales Director, Ben Ittensohn, said: “We know that a number of our competitors have downgraded their loyalty programs in recent years or even abandoned them altogether, while other companies have unfortunately ceased their activities.

“We’re confident adventure travelers will love Explore – and to make sure we show them the love they’re now missing from their previous holiday providers, we’ll give them the same loyalty discount they would receive. if they booked all those previous trips with Explore.”

A customer who has taken two or three trips with a competitor can book an Explore trip with a 5% discount, those who have booked 4 to 8 trips with a competing operator can get a 7% discount, while Adventurers with more 9 trips to their credit can obtain a 10% reduction on the cost of their Explore trip.

“We’ve made sure that an incentive for customers doesn’t come at the expense of our agents’ commission,” Ittensohn continued.

“Loyalty discounts are funded by Explore and are not part of the agents’ commission.”
